Day three of London Fashion Week saw us head to Annderstand’s AW17 show, the brand’s second appearance on the LFW calendar. Created by Ge Yu, Annderstand is all about fusion, innovation and craftsmanship. Through Annderstand – based on the word ‘understand’ – Ge Yu aims to understand the modern female through her designs.
The colour palette of rich navy, smokey grey, ivory and deep black gave the collection a worn and distressed feel. It was contrasted in the materials used and in the frayed and distressed details in the garments.
We loved the bold styling of Annderstand’s AW17 show. We already know we’ll be taking a note from Ge Yu’s book and wearing our favourite jackets in the freshest way: with only the first button done up.
The collection was made up of comfortable separates contrasted with sumptuous pieces of outerwear in heavy velvet and brocade. Our favourites were the pieces of really strong feminine tailoring that had a strong 60’s vibe – a modern take on a Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Club Band.
We also loved the unique leopard print – designed by London based designer Misa Wu – that was used on pieces such as luxurious trench coats. It added a fun accent throughout the whole collection.
The hair and makeup of the show was also incredibly striking, with slicked down hair with soft tendrils framing the models’ faces, which again captured that edgy yet delicate feeling at the same time.
Ge Yu is clearly a strong new talent that is a force to be reckoned with, and we know that we can’t wait to see more from her in the future.
