Enter a ‘Paradise Lost’, the debut London Fashion Week presentation for emerging designer and Central Saint Martin’s graduate Wilson PK. The intriguingly unique garments feature a breathtaking combination of waves, texture and colour. Inspired by Dante’s “Divine Comedy,” the innovative collection portrays the inner conflict of Wilson’s religious beliefs, whilst engaging with the psychedelic romance of his work. Fusing minimalist surrealism, Wilson effortlessly tears apart the conventions of Art Deco, resulting in stunningly distinctive pieces that ooze elegance and boldness.
For SS16, the enchanting collection features sleeveless cotton knit tops, flared pants, handkerchief skirts, as well as cocktail and floor-length dresses. Wilson strongly embraces the recurring trend of asymmetric shapes, bias cuts, and draping to create beautiful statement pieces that produce a powerful silhouette. Separates are also significant in the striking seasonal range, with a vast variety of matching co-ordinates featuring stunning sophisticated detailing.
Wilson PK pushes the boundaries and explores limitless possibilities with textile design working alongside Stoll, as well as FABBERZ LONDON. Beautifully crafted, the knitwear is utterly unique using Italian cotton and invisible yarn with intricate laser cut marble, art-deco beads and reflective acrylic inserted into the fabric. Heat press gemstones adorn the garments in an array of bold colours. Shades of cream, emerald green, lipstick pink, peach and tangerine are the key colours, accented by metallic hues and marble patterns contrasted with structured monotones.
With Wilson’s design experience including impressive roles at Alexander Wang and Iris Van Herpen, as well as a celebrity following from Lady Gaga, Wilson PK is definitely one of the up and coming designers to watch!
