‘The Vurger Co’ is the new vegan kid on the block. Located in the heart of Shoreditch, this vegan burger – or ‘vurger’ – joint serves up American diner vibes without the meat. Move aside Ronald Mcdonald, this health-conscious eatery isn’t messing around. Moving veggie burgers from ‘extra’ to ‘centre stage’ on the menu, the Vurger Co offers diners not one, not two, but four different vegan burgers to choose from, all served on vegan brioche bun. Avoiding carbs? All burgers come with the option of substituting bread for a salad bowl.

Before the main event, be sure to shake things up with one of their special “milk”shakes. Their salted caramel banana was demolished in seconds and their berry shake was equally as delicious. Beware: they might not be heavy with dairy or cream but they are ridiculously filling.

Aside from burgers, Vurger’s mac n cheese is crazy good. It easily meets and very possibly surpasses the real cheese version and it is dished up in a cute mini pot – the perfect accompaniment to a salad bowl.

We all know burgers aren’t complete without a good side of fries, and here you can choose from skin-on or the sweet potato variety. We opted for the latter. Nothing special and not as crunchy as we might have hoped, but a nice addition to any burger nonetheless.

We were STUFFED by the end, so we didn’t actually try out their dairy-free ice cream, but one glance around the room told us it’s a good as the rest of the menu. The best part is that when we left we felt full, but not groggy full. We didn’t feel like we needed to lie down and prepare ourselves for a burger hangover (food hangovers are totally a thing, right?). Instead, we had so much energy we went for a big walk!

Our only reservation is the plastic cups that water is served in. For a venue that’s so conscious about the planet, we would expect reusable glasses rather than stacks of plastic cups. Aside from that, the staff are friendly and the venues airy. Perfect for a catch up or a quick bite to eat, whether you’re vegan or not make sure you add ‘trying a vurger’ to your London bucket list!
