The fashion industry has long battled the dark world of counterfeit products, with nearly every market in the U.K. offering a knock-off something or other. Products with incorrect logos are ten a penny – bags, watches, purses and t-shirts, all with a rock bottom price. Maybe it doesn’t seem like a big deal, but according to some reports, counterfeit goods cost the fashion industry around 10% of their sales, which is around £22.3billion.

We’ve all been on holiday somewhere that feels like a world of fashion fakes. Fashion logos are some of the most counterfeited, with slight differences being used to create what seem like genuine products. Gucci, Chanel, Prada and countless more have all suffered from such issues.

However this season the fashion giants have taken back control, jumping one step ahead of the fakers by making their own ‘fake’ products. The most notable of these are the fake tees that you’ve no doubt seen all over your Insta-feed.

Gucci is the main house creating these fake-style products and we can’t get enough. By playing around with logos and placement, Alessandro Michale (creative director of Gucci) has created some of the biggest sell-out products we’ve seen in months. Showcasing them at Westminster Abbey last summer, dodgy logos were all over the models – making it clear that it has never been cooler to rock a bootleg tee.

We love the floral embroidery that surrounds the ‘fake’ logo on one, while another has a beautiful tiger motif on the reverse. These tees are all in a loose oversized fit so will suit everyone.

Style your fake with your favourite jeans and a bomber jacket, or tucked into a skirt with a leather jacket and ankle boots. If you’re feeling daring why not try it with some tailoring to nail that smart/casual vibe. These tees are so versatile, however you wear them it will pretty much always look fabulous. And if you’re still not sure, take cues from street styling – logo tees such as these were seen all over the place at NYFW and LFW.

So they say you have to fake it to make it, but these days it’s clear you only need Gucci to make it!
