Valentine’s Day is coming up… if you didn’t already know. I mean, we’ve all been inundated with the ad campaigns telling you to buy roses, lingerie and chocolate from mid-January so I guess you can never be too prepared for February 14th? I suppose it’s much like detox January, a constant barrage of being told you should do this and do that in order to have a great time with your partner.

But what if, lo and behold, you are severely single with no guy or girl on the horizon? You’ve probably swiped through the whole of London (and possibly the UK and surrounding countries) on your Tinder, Bumble and Plenty of Fish apps. Sometimes you might just not be someone’s catch of the day and it all might make you feel a little glum, but you have to remember that you do slay.

As long as you believe in yourself, the right person will come along someday.

So here’s what to do this Valentine’s Day:

Celebrate your singleness.

You may never get all this time back, so do you! You’ll have more than enough time for comprises when you’re in a relationship, so as a singleton why shouldn’t it be all about you?

Go and watch Fifty Shades Darker and cringe at *those* scenes. Overfill your basket on half price chocolate day on February 15th or – perhaps the best one – indulge in your secret single behaviour (SSB). If you want to eat those chicken wings in bed or wear the t-shirt with the holes in it without fear of judgement, GO FOR IT.

The best thing you can do is embrace this chapter in your life. It won’t be forever, so turn every page with hope, passion and ambition. You’ll never know who you’ll meet, so be open, accepting but most of all – BE YOU.
