Whether used for Interiors or fashion, the Tropical trend has been incredibly popular over the past few years. As we enter autumn it is the perfect time to embrace this trend, allowing us to have that summer-vibe all year round in our homes. However, there have been slight variations with the styling of this trend over the years, with certain aspects out and some remaining.
If you have a taste for the tropics and want to give your home an exotic makeover, here are the latest must-have items for this interior style.
Bold leaf wallpaper
A retro revival has arrived with large print wallpaper making a huge come back. These bold wallpapers effortlessly enhance the beauty in a house, whilst adding an exotic feel to the space. Add this wallpaper to a feature wall, and then team the look with tropical cushions and metallic accessories. If you are slightly pattern shy, just add hints throughout the space with DIY wall prints and by covering the top of a coffee table with the leaf wallpaper.
Everyone is potty for pineapples, though these have been designed in various ways throughout this evolving trend. We have seen copper and neon pineapples in lamps, vases and in prints, now though the pineapple motif is being used much more subtly in gold metallics and glass. Where as before the pineapple was the main attraction, these favourite fruits are now being incorporated into a design, in cake stands, candleholders, bookends and jewellery trays.
The colour palette for this trend varies, but as of 2017 we have seen a darker and more moody tropical theme available. Deep green and blue tones have taken centre stage, making these trend much more opulent and high-end. If the ‘in-your-face’ bold patterns aren’t for you though, opt for this palette teamed with a few small exotic accessories and prints for more toned down look.
Quirky ornaments and lighting
Whether it be monkeys, toucans, zebras or flamingos, the selection of available quirky animal ornaments and lighting for the trend are huge. These ornaments are being made in a range of materials and colours, so you will always find the correct ornament to complete the look. Try and think outside the box with where you place the ornaments, try to create interest with height levels, texture and tones.
