Last week, we headed down to the Superdry flagship store in London’s Regent Street to attend the finale of one of the hotted modelling competitions of the year. Partnering with Superdry for the first time, Elite Model UK hosted a catwalk and champagne reception to choose the winner of the Elite Model Look competition, now in its 7th year.
We were treated to some delicious (and very pretty!) Perrier-based cocktails and some tunes by Femme while we watched the ten finalists take to the catwalk. Also in the exclusive audience were a host of fashion designers, TV personalities, bloggers, editors, experts from Elite and Superdry, and Elite Model Look UK ambassador Oliver Proudlock.
Seeing the models walk before us, we knew the competition was going to be tough. However, there had to be two winners and the judges chose to send Chris Tydings and Charlotte Corn (above) to compete for the UK at the Elite Model Look World Final in China later this year. We wish them both the best of luck.
Chris said, “I didn’t know what to do when they announced us. I can’t wait for China”. Fellow winner Charlotte added, “Our names were announced and I didn’t know what to do. I was just kind of standing there. I was just kind of in shock but so excited for China”.
The stiff competition meant that two extra surprise winners were also announced. Kofi Morris Heather and Elli Jordan will both feature in the next Superdry collection campaign.
The competition marked a new venture for fashion brand Superdry. The label has never done something like this before, but we think it was a risk that has paid off. It’s great to see a brand at the forefront of the model scouting process and helping to carve the careers of the next wave of talent. We hope this won’t be the only project of its kind from Superdry.
