If you’ve done the festival circuit this year, and had the pleasure of catching Sink The Pink tearing up a tent, you’ll know what kind of magic you will be in for. If not, imagine glitter, drag queens, cabaret and a DJ set brimming with sing-along classics.
Sink The Pink is a colourful, progressive and totally bonkers club night that is inclusive to everyone LGBTQ and otherwise. Their motto is “Everyone is welcome, and everyone is celebrated.”
STP have grown from their humble beginnings at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club into a London institution. This summer saw them take the show to new heights by selling out O2’s Brixton Academy on the night of London Pride.
Next weekend marks their 10th birthday and they aren’t taking this lightly. After spreading their special brand of euphoria around Bestival and other UK festivals, now it’s their turn to throw a summer shindig of their own. Finsbury Park has been booked out for two days of extravagant street parties.
The main stage will feature the best of the Sink The Pink family, with over 50 queens strutting their stuff. While, the second stage will pay homage to their Working Men’s Club roots, with sketches and more.
As always, there is a theme with lots of room for interpretation. There will be the opportunity for everyone to join the queens on stage for some good old lip syncing, so make sure you go ALL OUT.
So grab your “birthday best/ birthday worst” (we’re thinking badges, sashes, sky high stilettos and party hats) and prepare for a day festival like no other. What could be a better way to escape from the real world?
