Often a new season means a completely different offering from a designer, which creates sales, which is great for business. However, sometimes a designer makes a conscience decision to go against this.
With her latest collection, Rosetta Getty wanted to focus on creating clothes that women will hopefully collect and keep forever working them into their lives instead of just their seasonal wardrobe. Collaborating with visual installation artist Alicja Kwade-whose work incorporates everyday objects and makes onlookers question their reality- Getty was compelled to reflect on the intent of her own work.
You can see the thought process in the collection, playing with textures and materials. Mixing high shine Eel, silk, velvet and rich furs the collection feels decadent yet modern which is so perfect for now, but also seasons to come.
The collection has a clear and strong style, and one of the strongest parts is the elongated dramatic silhouette, which we absolutely adore. This is showcases in delicate long dresses, tunics and flowing skirts. This was also repeated in trousers with sweeping flares that seem so perfect for now but also so timeless.
With a strong colour palette – allowing pieces to work within your current selection – of black, rich red, bright white and soft grey. This collection has something for everyone.
This collection has so many great aspects, we love that its creator wants us to think about how we consume fashion. We really love that Getty cares more than just selling things each season, but wants her customers to be able to keep her clothes forever. We are completely sold…
