Anissa Aida has a strong reputation, having won the Fashion Scout ’ones to watch’ award in September 2016, and earned respect from Forbes for being ‘their favourite Ready to Wear for its clean lines and classic shapes that would suit everyone’. We have also had the pleasure of chatting with Aida in the past and were very excited to see how this young designer had progressed. All this lead to an anticipation for the show to begin.

The collection was classicly Aida filled with oversized shapes and stripes. The colourway rarely deviated from blue and white. A summer-ready take on monochrome. We loved the easy separates, the clever approach to tailoring as well as easy day dresses.

This collection was bolder than seasons past, with bold choices that marked creative content. We loved the sheer stripes paired with a layered skirt. Looks were complemented by fun and summer ready hats.

Patchwork is new for the Tunisian born designer, seen in unique patched jeans that has a bohemian charm. Aida was influenced by waste reducing traditions from her own country as well as Japanese Boro textiles.

The collection was entitled Outre-Mer. Literally meaning ‘overseas’ this collection had a holiday vibe. We envisioned a hot escape to the blue and white islands of Greece.  This was an effortless and chic collection, that made so by Aida’s meticulous attention to detail.

This young label is going from strength to strength, and we are very excited to watch the success of Anissa Aida…
