Starsica’s AW18 collection blew us away, with a striking yet wearable line up of garments. Thus we were suitably excited for the SS19 show. Starstica has been a bold and confident line since it’s inception, and as the show began we knew that this collection was not going to disappoint.

The collection is directly inspired by searching for the truth in our memories. With direct memories and narratives from the designer influencing the collection, such as cocktail parties, exotic forests and libraries.

This inspiration played out in wearable separates. Patterned dresses, tops and skirts as well as covetable coats. Stripes, florals and leopard were prints du hour and were threaded throughout the collection.

The collection seemed to have a more commercial edge to it, with simpler shapes and embellishments more refined. Don’t confuse commercial with plain, this was still an eclectic collection full of creative vigour and panache.

As with last season, they show had cast a diverse and eclectic mix of models, which was refreshing to see in a week that had seemed lacking in terms of diversity.

Starsica said that this collection is ‘luxurious, glamorous and yet funky. A collection that, like good Jazz is beautiful, reflects all emotions and evokes powerful memories”. It is clear that when designers create from personal inspiration it creates a unique and powerful collection. All we say is that we cannot wait for next season…
