The Mark Fast show at LFW AW17 was a buzzy affair. With the anticipation building throughout the day, all of us wondered what the supreme Knight of knitwear was going to produce with his needles this time around.
A champion of real women everywhere – causing much controversy among the fash pack in previous seasons by having the audacity to send ‘plus size’ models instead of the obligatory stick-thin stereotype down his catwalk – it was always going to be a hot ticket show.
No props were required for Fast – simply the stunning backdrop of the building enveloping the luxury of the creations he treated us to.
The models were resplendent in his fine knit fantasies, the dresses our dreams are made of, all interwoven with feathers, chiffon and silk detail.
Fringe benefits were the order of the day, executed with a fluidity only the master of his craft could convey. Seamless fine knits splashed with baby soft feathers cut a fantasy silhouette, juxtaposed with edgy cocktail dresses guaranteed to put the vamp stamp on any woman wearing them.
Canadian born Fast, a Central St. Martins Alumnus, pulled out all the stops with this latest collection and his sculptured sassy stamp was all over it.
The gasps of delight were audible with each new creation sashaying down his catwalk and the A-list FROW were not disappointed. A true master of delicacy and innovation, our hearts beat Fast long after the lights went out on this show.
