The Plus Minus team recently attended Jigsaw’s launch party for its AW15 menswear line at its Angel store location to get a first look at the collection.
As ever, the line balances unique and quirky bespoke pieces together with more everyday wear, making for a collection of accessible clothing that should be a part of every man’s wardrobe. The brand has designed its clothing to be nonchalant and pared-back – rather than trend-driven – with the premise being that “real clothes” deserve the spotlight as they are what most men want to wear.
Jigsaw leveraged fabrics from Italian and British mills in the creation of the line, citing fabric as a key point of difference between this line and competing ones. Specific fabrics include natural linen, wool, micro jacquards, cotton/cashmere blend, knit, and jersey. T
he line is described this season as featuring more marled and naturally rich colours and mini geometric patterns while avoiding superfluous details. The designers also used naturally flatter fabrics such as compact, double face and proofed cottons to make for cleaner, simpler garments.
Production at Jigsaw is said to be largely collaborative and hands-on, as designers work together with manufacturers who have certainly honed their craft and are field experts.
We especially liked the cashmere knitwear, which include the Fisherman’s rib in Mongolian cashmere and the Made in Italy cashmere sweat crew.
