We are now well in to September, and the new season has well and truly dropped. The high street is bursting with new season pieces that we are itching to wear. It can be overwhelming, knowing what to wear and with what.

So with that in mind we thought we would decode the trends and make it super easy for you. Keep reading to find out how to wear autumn’s biggest trends.

Step Back in Time

Have you been watching Peaky Blinders? Well the fashion world has been taking notes, and thus the murky world of post Victorian WW1 Britain is trending. The easiest way to access this trend is through your feet, and a lace up boot.

Yes this boot trend is big news, and in reality unavoidable, pick stiletto for a modern twist, or go square toe and step back in time.

Big Coats

Yes it is Autumn, and obviously there will be coats in the shops for the colder days ahead of us. However, this season the coats are bigger than ever. They have a power dressing vibe to them that feels powerful, seductive and sexy. We saw major coats at J.W. Anderson, Jacquemus, Marc Jacobs Balenciaga and Max Mara.

Keep it light and feminine with your colour choice, and make sure your coat does not drown you.

Tight fit

It feels really strange to be writing this as actual fashion advice, but as 2019 is already proving, anything goes! Yes TIGHTS are in, and we are not talking 40 denier, we are talking patterns and bold on bold more is more leg coverings.

Think full floral, statement branded tights (odd) and bold block colours. Your legs will love you!

Hats Incredible

Another accessories trend that has somehow stuck around, and for some reason become a thing is bucket hats. Yes this 90s throwback is making a big splash this season, with the likes of Anna Sui, Valentino, Dior and Tom Ford all showing variations on the style.

Who are we to disagree with such giants of fashion, so grab a bucket hat, and have fun! At the very least you will have something to hide a bad hair day!

Hems to the ankle

The hems of the season seemed to be in sharp contrast, with some super short skirts, but the biggest impact was the ankle skimming lengths seen at Alexander McQueen, Rejina Pyo, Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera, Giambattista Valli, Brandon Maxwell and many many more.

Don’t get this confused with floor length. We very definitely need to see your ankle, in a seductive way this becomes a very sensual trend, with just a touch of flesh from your long skirt!

Head to toe beige

Wearing one colour head to toe is always a way to look incredibly refined and polished. This season saw beige sticking around, from SS19 it has moved on and is now working solo. Seen at the likes of Valentino in evening wear options, Max Mara in smooth sumptuous day wear, and rich tonal vibes at Fendi.

This trend is easy to access, all you need to do is match your beiges, and you are good to go!

Neon Toes

The highlighter shades of SS19, AW18 have not left the fashion world, and this season channel you favourite stationary supplies through your feet. Yes neon shoes is the way forward this season, with Emilio Pucci, Saint Laurent and Victoria Beckham giving us the green light.

Pink, green, yellow and orange the future is bright.

Tower over the rest

Platforms are having a moment, and whether you like it or not, there is nothing you can do about trends actually making you like things that a couple of years you hated. Seen at the collections of Dries Van Noten, Stella McCartney, Matty Bovan and Alecxa Chung.

So whether you go full on 70s, with a platform sandal. Or channel the 90s in a platform boots, there is a platform heel for you this season.
