What is your USP

Okay so you might not want to be an influencer, but having a theme or a general idea about what your presence on Instagram is about is a good idea. It will help you when it comes to uploading, captions and who to follow.

Whether you post fashion inspiration, or quirky makeup looks, having a USP will gain you followers, and boost your engagement.

Actually Upload Content

This sounds stupid, but we see so many accounts with just 3 pictures, and the last one was uploaded in 2017. If you want to up your game, you have to up your content.

We are not talking millions of pictures, but perhaps 4 or 5 a week is a good place to start.

Be picky

How many accounts are you following? Well we are sure that you could half that. If you follow less accounts the ones you do follow will show up more often on your feed and you will forge a great relationship with those accounts, and create natural and lasting engagement!

This does not mean your following will drop, but even if it does, it is engagement that really counts in this game.

Be Consistent

Consistency is KEY. Your followers are following you for a reason, so if you suddenly start uploading 9 pictures a day, they will probably ignore it! You have to consistent to ensure that you keep your followers engaged and happy.

If you want to change things up, ask your followers what they want to see.

Comments are important

Comments are key to engagement, which is the buzz word for social media right now. First of all you should definitely comment on other people’s content, tell them why you love it! Use more than 5 words, so that it counts as a proper comment to the algorithm, and don’t just use emojis.

Always make sure you reply to your comments on your posts, as this will double the engagement on your own account too!

Stories are EVEN MORE IMPORTANT

If comments are important, then Stories have double that importance. Video content is where Instagram is heading and stories are at the forefront of this. Having a story on your account will boost engagement, and bring more people to your content. It also allows you to show the real you.

You don’t have to go full vlogger, but just share things that made you laugh today, or perhaps an event you were at. It is simple, easy and super important if you want to up your game on IG!

Have Fun

This may seem very counter intuitive after all the other tips, but in reality if you are not having fun, then what is the point. So make sure that your time on social media is most of all enjoyable!
