Hands up who’s wearing a bra they’ve had for more than six months right now?
We all know we should get measured every six months, but in reality, it’s just too much hassle for most of us. Finding a store you trust, a convenient time when you’re not in a hurry or laden with shopping bags, and just generally feeling up to it doesn’t usually happen all at once. And so getting your bra size checked gets pushed down the priority list again.
If you’re nodding along in an “I’ve been there” kind of way right now, listen up. Figleaves have finally answered our lingerie prayers – and now that they have, we’re kind of surprised that nobody thought of this sooner.
Figleaves Live Fit is a brand new online service brings all the benefits of in-store bra fitting (hint: there are many) to the comfort and privacy of your own home. The virtual fitting service makes it easy and convenient to get an expert fit with just an internet connection and minutes of your time by connecting you with one of the company’s advisors.
We booked in for a session to trial it out, but you don’t necessarily need an appointment. Just rock up to the site and you can connect when it suits you with an instant session. That means you could get fitted while you get dressed in the morning – or even in your lunch break if you can find a discreet place to Skype – without having to trek to a busy high street.
Not knowing what to expect, it was a little awkward at first, but the advisor was friendly and made sure I was comfortable. She asked me about any concerns I have and any specific problems I have when it comes to finding a bra – the first advisor, I realised, to ever ask me in so much detail.
Once we’d established what I like, what I don’t like and what kind of styles would suit both my shape and personality, the advisor set to helping me find a bra that would fit my (admittedly kinda tricky) criteria. I was worried that it wouldn’t be as good as stepping into a store and getting measured by an experienced assistant but Figleaves’ advisors know what they’re talking about; they can help with everything from maternity and nursing bras to pre and post breast cancer surgery.
My problem was more straightforward: I have a hard to find bra size. But, as well as finding the light pink bra I was looking for, the advisor I spoke to was able to recommend a few brands she thought would work well for me and advised me on how their fit usually measures up compared to brands I already wear. That alone was worth using the service for because now I have a list of brands I know stock my size next time I’m looking for a bra and can shop fairly confidently online without worrying too much about fit.
Figleaves stocks over 200 sizes and bras for every occasion – here’s just a taste of what you’ll find on-site:
It’s kind of odd inviting a stranger into your home (albeit virtually) to advise you on bras, but in the end the whole thing was pretty fun. I know where I’ll be going next time I need some help finding a bra!
You can try the service every day between 8.30am-10pm (or 9am-5pm on the weekends). Just log on to online chat or call 03454012014 to book.
