Whether you run your own business or side-hustle, work in an office or spend your days at home trying to write that big breakout novel that will make you famous, chances are you could use a little more productivity in your life.

The more productive you are, the more you can achieve and the more indispensable you’ll be, but boosting productivity is pretty boring, right? Wrong! Check out these fun ways to boost your productivity:

Have a Little Healthy Competition

If you want to take your productivity level up to the next notch, then get your friends, family or co-workers involved. Make small bets with them as to who can get the most done, track your progress and whoever loses has to buy dinner/cinema/ tickets/drinks/etc.. There’s nothing like a free lunch to boost your motivation, and because you’re holding yourself accountable to someone else, you’re less likely to skip out on your goals and take the easy option.

Don’t Do the Chores

No, I’m not suggesting that you let your lovely home go to rack and ruin, I’m suggesting that you go A-list and hire some domestic staff to help you with your chores. Why? Well, because if you don’t have to spend several hours a week cleaning, cooking and doing laundry, you free up that time to build your business, get ahead at work or focus on your projects. If you can afford it, it’s really a no-brainer.

Have a Break

It might seem counterproductive, but having more breaks is an excellent way of boosting your productivity, especially if you’re feeling burnt out. Instead of working pretty much full on all day, schedule your work so that you have a 10-minute break at the end of every hour. Use this time to drink tea, read, meditate, get up and walk around or simply do nothing – it will recharge your batteries so that you’re able to get more done overall.

Take It Outside

If you’re struggling to focus, you feel tense, and you’re one more stupid comment away from going ape at the guy in the next cubicle, stop, go outside and bask in the glory of nature. Breathe in the fresh air, smell the roses and listen to the birds sing. You’ll find yourself getting calmer and clearer, and most importantly of all, much more able to deal with work when you go back inside.

Have a Laugh

Laughter is so good for us in so many ways. It can boost our happiness levels, and increase our heart rate, but it can also boost the amount of blood flowing to your brain too, which means watching cat videos on Youtube could actually be good for your productivity!

Crank It Up

Studies have shown that is you play your favourite high-energy songs, you will find it much easier to focus, you’ll have more motivation, and you’ll work much more productively than you would if you were working in silence or with the radio tuned to a station you hate. Distractions aren’t always a bad thing!

Here’s to a more productive life!
