Denim. It’s something that we all own and love. That often blue staple, the workhorse of the wardrobe we all love to build outfits around.

Well, now a new brand is here to give your existing threads a shake down.

Enter AND/OR, John Lewis’s new denim label. With denim designed, washed, cut and finished in L.A., AND/OR has impressive credentials working with denim experts Calvin Rucker. With decades of experience in the world of denim – and with one of the founders being a former vice president of Levis – AND/OR has a winning formula from the get-go.

AND/OR is bringing upscale denim production and design to the British high street. The denim collection focuses on four core mid-rise fits which aim to suit all body types, as well as 3 seasonal trend pieces which offer seasonal bursts of design and style. Expert fits with innovative washes are combined with high-end finishes such as distressing, bleaching, busted seams and some perfectly frayed hems.

While the collection places a large emphasis on denim, it also brings a capsule range of incredibly wearable and interchangeable separates. Featuring outerwear, dresses, shoes, lingerie and accessories, which the brand states provide “everything a woman needs to create a modern uniform”- a claim over we completely agree with at PMHQ.

L.A. is clearly a point of inspiration for this collection, with a west coast feel throughout nonchalant staples and a Hollywood flair showcased through statement pieces. We think the collection has a fuss free ease to it, with soft easy to move fabrics combined with everybody’s favourite trophy jackets. We also love the dark romantic florals seen in dresses, which have an incredible Stevie Knicks vibe that’s perfect for spring.

AND/OR’s collection feels like a trip to the west coast of America – all without the long haul flight or the jet lag.
