Lip liners are the unsung hero of the make up world. We are inundated with lipsticks, lip-glosses, lip balms from beauty brands around the world but what is really missing are new lip liners.

Do you remember the 90s when lipliners were all the rage?

The darker the better and the more bold you went the cooler you were. These were the days before the overlining a la Kylie Jenner trend took the world by storm and make up was not just for Instagram. Our favourites are from popular make up brand Mac, particularly Chestnut (the perfect liner for women of colour), Stripdown, Spice and Cork (mauve nude-browns). At £14 they are not the cheapest but they are super high-quality and have a multitude of uses. They double up as a lip colour when mixed with a balm and even an eyeshadow base too when mixed with a little primer.

Skinny brows and a heavy lip liner were the opposite of what is popular today.

However if you are yearning to relive your 90s youth it is time to get creative with the tweezers and your darkest lip pencil. However if you don’t want to make the scary jump to skinny brows, why not try some translucent powder (We love Laura Mercier) dusted over your brows and there you have a blank canvas for you to play with.

STROBING!

Not keen on skinny brows, why not attempt a subtle take on a 90s face with strobing. Remember when this came back to popularity in 2017? Well if not, we’re here to remind you of it. Strobing is a very simple make up technique that is impossible to butcher to be honest; it’s about giving your skin that healthy glow. All you need to do is get to know your face a little and learn where the light hits it best. This is great for those no make up make up days when you don’t feel like doing a full face.
