Exciting news for all fashion fans – one of our style heroes, Alexa Chung has launched a new fashion app called Villoid.
The star posted on Instagram to let fans know of her latest venture: “I am pleased and proud to announce that the secret app I have been working on for months is now available to download… It’s called VILLOID (more on that later) and I would love you to play with it and let me know what you think.”
The app is similar to both Instagram and Pinterest, but with a fashion and style slant. You can create style boards, upload photos, follow friends, create product lists, and experiment with all your favourite brands including Converse, Marc Jacobs and Chloé.
The unique selling point of Villoid though, is the ability to buy your favourite products straight from the app. According to the app description, Villoid is “your very own endless dressing up box,” and “make-believe with a buy button.”
This latest venture is a joint project between Alexa Chung and Norwegian tech entrepreneur Jeanette Dyhre Kvisvik, who was excited to have Alexa on board. Villoid has already been highly praised, with Pixie Geldof describing it as “the most addictive app.” And Elle Magazine claims that this app will “change the way you get dressed forever”. We can’t wait to get our hands on it to find out!
The app is currently free to download from iTunes, and the Android version will be launched later in the year.
