Comedy Carnival has been one of London’s top Comedy Nights since their first show in 2004, with Locations in Leicester Square & Covent Garden. Having comedy shows every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, featuring TV stars from Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week and acclaimed international comedians such as Adam Hills, Reginald D Hunter & Jim Jefferies.

We attended last week’s show at the Leicester Square venue and what you may know as Bar Rumba. We can recall spending our early teenage years here partying to the early morning. Anyway, enough about that and more about Comedy Carnival, this show featured Time Out Comedy Award winner Sean Meo, the hilarious Nick Dixon, Aussie funnyman Pete Gionis and a guest MC.

Here are our 5 reasons you need to visit:

1) The perfect start to your Saturday night (or end)

The show takes place between 8pm – 10pm meaning you have time to grab dinner nearby before and drinks after. Or you could just stay in Bar Rumba partying until 3am. The choice is yours.

2) An evening away from your phone

Being that the venue is in the basement, there isn’t much reception meaning no distracting screens or annoying phonecalls throughout the show. The staff are pretty stringent when it comes to behaving so don’t risk getting your phone out to record the show or check your latest Tinder matches. You’ve been warned.

3) The perfect place for a date

Struggling to think of date ideas post-Valentines day? Scrap the usual dinner and a movie and laugh yourself silly. Who knows, the comedian may choose to pick on or shall we say use you as material. Best of all, its on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, so you can pick a night to suit both of your schedules.

3) Top comedy acts

We haven’t laughed so hard all year. Each comedian has their own quirks, specialities and styles but what we loved most is how brazen they all were. If you are easily offended, this show is not for you.

4) Happy Hour between 7pm-8pm

On a budget? Then get there early and take advantage of the drink offers (2 for 1 cocktails). However, miss out and you’ll end up with a small drip of wine like this:
