Front row viewing of Cecelia Chang‘s AW 17 presentation was an array of fur, frame and frolics. Inspired by the streets and avenues of New York, her collection represents a cosmopolitan style for a woman who is bold and sexy, yet practical.
On the catwalk, each model thrived off their individuality as their hair and makeup was specific to their style of clothing. There was a mixture of middle and side partings, long and short hair, but all was styled natural and wavy.
The majority of the pieces were loose fitting, each with its own charming detail. The palette of colours was suited to the confident woman who would wear it, with expensive satin royal blues, wool autumn greys and velvet statement black.
Our favourite look was a black fur crop jumper and the high waisted grey flared power trousers, worn by a model with long hair and bold earrings. The look screamed New York winters and the urban theme kept on flowing. The models sported black velvet jumpsuits with subtle prints, dark wash denim jeans and cleaned lined tops with statement hoods. The black three-piece trouser, high neck jumper and jacket with the signature fur draped over the shoulder took it to peak glamour.
Chang did not disappoint on the shock factor as one of the many memorable pieces was the blue print two piece spaghetti strap top and flared trouser. The outfit was modelled with a navy blue fur coat casually leaning on the models shoulder, given that city edge with the rip at the knee.
She didn’t stop there! The finale was a young male model strutting down the catwalk in a daring blue textured skirt and coat with fur trims around the sleeves and lining. The model wore a statement necklace that sat on his bare chest and the poise and arrival of this ensemble was a great way to end this free spirited elegant collection.
